RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends the City Council authorize the City Manager to execute a purchase order to Turner Signage of Riverside, California for the bid amount of $159,350 for the fabrication, delivery, and installation of the Wayfinding (Directory) Signs; and authorize a $15,000 contingency for unforeseeable construction costs; and approve $15,000 to supply electricity to the LED lighted Pedestrian Directory/Kiosk signs resulting in a total project cost of $189,350.

BACKGROUND:
In January 2016, the City contracted with Graphic Solutions, Inc. to develop a comprehensive sign program to unify and consolidate the City's entryway signs, vehicular directional signs and downtown directory signs. This Citywide Wayfinding Sign Program serves as an economic development tool by enhancing the City's overall appearance and providing residents and visitors with readily identifiable directional information in a graphically coordinated format. A Sign Committee was comprised of two members from the City Council and each of the City's Commissions was formed to provide community input during the design process. Upon recommendation of the Sign Committee, the City Council approved the sign designs and directed staff to prepare a formal bid solicitation for the fabrication, delivery, and installation of these signs.
The amount of Directory Signs to be furnished include nine (9) Post Mounted Gateway Signs, twenty-one (21) Vehicle Directional Signs (roadside), five (5) Vehicle Directional Signs (median) and three (3) Pedestrian Directional Signs (optional) packaged and delivered to the City's Yard as specified in Design Intent Drawings and Specifications.
