Staff recommends the City Council authorize replacement of the soft surface material located in Town Square at the Fountain of Life in an amount not to exceed $59,013.

BACKGROUND:
The Fountain of Life soft surface lifespan is generally every two to three years depending on a variety of factors. The combination of heat, water and the pH factor of the chlorination for health and safety purposes along with the increased use makes it extremely challenging to maintain the soft surface for longer than this. In addition, because of these impediments, it is difficult to obtain interested parties to submit bids.
DISCUSSION:
Due to the unexpected accelerated deterioration of the surface due to the extreme factors outlined above, after discussion and inspection from several potential vendors, staff has been able to secure two bids for the re-surfacing of which one was insufficient. At this time, staff is recommending moving forward with Park Pet and Play, LLC. in an amount not to exceed $59,013. The renovation will include onsite removal and reinstallation of the soft surface material, inspection of the drainage system and proper disposal of the waste material. It will include resurfacing both the inner and outer surfaces.
FISCAL IMPACT:
A General Fund budget amendment is required - Account Number 100-8112-8301.
