Staff recommends the City Council approve Amendment No. 2 to the Professional Services Agreement with ALTA Planning + Design for additional construction administration/observation and structural engineering services for the Cathedral City Whitewater Bike Path and authorize the City Manager to sign the amendment.

BACKGROUND:
The Cathedral City Whitewater Bike Path (Project) is located along the west bank of the Whitewater River between Ramon Road on the south and Vista Chino on the north. The Project is approximately 2.3 miles in length. The Project has been designed and is being constructed to conform with of requirements of the proposed CVAG CV Link Project. Additionally, CVAG is providing the additional funding to assure that the City's Project is completed to these standards.
DISCUSSION:
Originally, the Project was bid as a concrete bike path with no additional amenities (sun shades, benches and drinking fountains). CVAG wanted to add these amenities after the original Contract was secured, thus a supply and install contract was subsequently bid and approved by the City Council to provide the shade structures for rest areas which include benches and drinking fountains.
The addition of these amenities has resulted in the need for additional administration, observation and structural engineering services to be provided by the Project's design consultant, ALTA Planning + Design.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This Amendment is for $25,000 for additional administration/observation services and $5,000 for additional structural engineering services for a total cost of $30,000. All costs for these services will be reimbursed by CVAG.
