RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation
Staff recommends that the City Council interview the applicants that have submitted applications for possible appointment to fill the two vacant seats on the Public Arts Commission.

BACKGROUND:
On October 11, 2017, the City Council accepted the resignation of Tim Parrott and on October 25, 2017, the City Council accepted the resignation of Robby Sherwin from the Public Arts Commission.
At their meeting of October 25, 2017, the City Council discussed the possibility of reducing the number of Commissioners from seven to five. It was the consensus of the City Council to table the discussion to the second meeting in May 2018, to consider the reduction in membership once again and to proceed with filling the vacancies on the Commission.
Pursuant to the California Government Code Section 54974, a Notice of Unscheduled Vacancy on the Public Arts Commission was posted in the three designated posting locations as well as the City's Website and Face Book.
One of the unexpired terms will continue through June 30, 2018 and the other term will continue through June 30, 2019.


DISCUSSION:
The following individuals submitted an application to the City Clerk's Office for the Public Arts Commission:

Christian Sesma
Sue Townsley

Staff recommends that the following be the procedure for the interview process:

? All applicants will assemble in the Council Chambers at 4:30 p.m.
? A computerized random number draw will be conducted for the order of the interviews.
? All applicants, other than the one being interviewed first, will be asked to wait outside the Chambers until their turn to interview so that no applicant has access to the interview questions prior to his/her interview.
