Body

BACKGROUND:
On September 12, 2016, the Cathedral City Public Arts Commission voted unanimously to make a recommendation to the City Council to accept donations from Simi Dabah, Joan Quinn and Dinato. The Chair of the Public Arts Commission will provide images of the sculptures and discussion on proposed placement of each art piece.

DISCUSSION:
Simi Dabah Sculptures: Prominent artist Simi Dabah has been generous in donating 6 more sculptures to the City of Cathedral City. The Arts Commission is recommending that the sculptures be placed throughout the city, on a pedestal along Ramon Rd, Ocotillo Park, and a small pocket park in the Dream Homes neighborhood.
Joan Agajanian Quinn and Michael Chearney Sculpture: Joan Agajanian Quinn has been a supporter of the arts for over 35 years; particularly Southern California Contemporary Art. A Los Angeles native, she is the creator, writer, producer and host of "The Joan Quinn Profiles" a cable TV show which airs on a mini-syndicate from California to New York (1993-present). Ms. Quinn would like to add to the city's art collection a sculpture by Michael Chearney.
Dinato Sculpture from the Colin Furst Gallery: Prominent artist Dinato would like the city to consider accepting a donated work of art from his Gallery. Dinato has successfully sold his work in Cathedral City and he would like to give back in the form of a donated art piece. Dinato's art work is presently displayed in Palm Desert on Highway 111 near a bus stop. The piece is a colorful abstract sculpture of kids playing.
