BACKGROUND:
After a recent presentation from a local developer, City Council directed staff to proceed with developing a density bonus ordinance for the development of affordable housing. In addition, there have been a number of internal discussions regarding the creation of a local inclusionary housing ordinance. Staff has initiated preliminary discussions with the City Attorney's office on developing these ordinances.
DISCUSSION:
The Staff presentation will provide an overview of the State density bonus law and the topic of inclusionary housing as well as options and alternatives that the City Council may want to consider including within the framework for the development of affordable housing within Cathedral City.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact with this action
