BACKGROUND:

John Haag was appointed to serve on the Palm Springs International Airport Commission on June 10, 2015 with a term continuing to June 30, 2018.

DISCUSSION:

On September 14, 2016, John Haag announced to the City Council that he would need to resign from the Palm Springs International Airport Commission effective September 25, 2016, due to a job relocation.  He followed up with staff with an email indicating the same.

Staff recommends the City Council direct staff to do the following:

Pursuant to Government Code 54974, post a Notice of Vacancy.  No appointment can be made sooner than 10 days after the Notice of Vacancy has been posted.

Accept applications through October 6, 2016 and conduct interviews on October 12, 2016 and make an appointment to fill the vacated seat.
