Title
Task Order with Albert A. Webb Associates for Design of Modifications to the Date Palm Drive/I-10 Interchange Striping

FROM:
John A. Corella, P.E. - City Engineer

RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation
Staff recommends the City Council approve a Task Order under the Professional Services Agreement with Albert A. Webb Associates to provide annual on-call Traffic Engineering Services in the amount of $18,680 to prepare traffic studies, signing and striping, traffic control and Caltrans design exceptions to modify the pavement delineation on the Date Palm Drive Interchange to allow two northbound lanes access to the eastbound on ramp to I-10.
Body

BACKGROUND:
In conjunction with the recent Vista Chino Street Improvement Project the intersection at Date Palm Drive was modified from two to three left turn lanes as vehicles travel eastbound on Vista Chino onto northbound Date Palm Drive. DISCUSSION:
This Task Order will begin with a coordination meeting with Caltrans District 8 Operations and Design Staff to introduce the needed striping and signing modifications and establish the feasibility for the restriping Project. If the Project is considered feasible, our Consultant (Albert A. Webb and Associates) will provide all the necessary traffic studies, documents, plans and specifications for Staff to move to the next step, which would be to secure a contractor complete the modifications. If the Project is not considered feasible by Caltrans, the work will ...
