Body

BACKGROUND:
In December 2014, the Cathedral City Fire Department received an announcement letter inviting proposals for a donation from the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians (ACBCI). The Tribe has been a long standing community partner which has helped to fund many life safety initiatives throughout the years. Some of which are listed below:
•      Purchase of a hazardous materials response unit
•      Equipping our Incident Support Unit
•      Funded truck staffing
•      Purchased fire apparatus and equipment
•      Purchased personal protective gear
•      Purchased ten tablet computers for the Fire Prevention Program

DISCUSSION:
For this donation opportunity, CCFD has requested the assistance from the Tribe in funding the following purchases and training:
•      Automated CPR Compression Device Batteries                        $3,000
•      Advance Life Support Paramedic Treatment Simulator                  $8,000
•      Installation of Secondary Fire Radios in two Fire Engines            $3,000
•      Fire Command Instructor Training                                    $6,000
•      Roof Ventilation Prop Construction                              $5,000
Total Donation Funding                                                $25,000
FISCAL IMPACT:
There are no negative fiscal impacts to the General Fund, and the donation will enhance service delivery with the supplemental funding. The Department is in receipt of the $25,000 donation check and is seeking approval of the grant by Council. Acceptance of the grant carries with it no reporting or performance related requirements.
