BACKGROUND:
The Cathedral Center is a senior center serving residents of Cathedral City and the surrounding area.  It has been in operation and received some level of support from the City since 1980.
 
DISCUSSION:
The Cathedral Center reports that they serve more than 1,500 seniors monthly and provide meals to more than 600 people per month.  They estimate that approximately seventy-five to eighty percent of the people served at the Cathedral Center are Cathedral City residents.
 
Paul Padilla, President of the Board of Directors of the Cathedral Center and Peter Rittenhouse, Interim Executive Director of the Cathedral Center will be present at the study session to make a brief presentation on the center and to answer questions from the Council.
 
FISCAL IMPACT:
The budget for FY15-16 includes a City contribution of $40,000 to the Cathedral Center.
