The Public Arts Commission recommends the City Council approve the placement of Rainbow Street Art on George Montgomery Trail at East Palm Canyon and ratify their action to temporarily relocate of two Val Samuelson paintings for the Historic Homes and Artists Tour.

BACKGROUND:
At their meeting of January 11, 2016, the Public Arts Commission discussed the placement of Rainbow Street Art on George Montgomery Trail at East Palm Canyon. The Commission voted to submit a request to the City Council asking for their support of the Rainbow Street Art project. If approved by the Council, the Commission will support the project in an amount not to exceed $200 for materials and will organize the volunteers to apply the street art.
In addition, the Public Arts Commission, at their meeting of February 8, 2016, discussed the temporary relocation of two Val Samuelson paintings from City Hall to the Cathedral Center for the Historic Homes and Artists Tour. The Public Arts Commission voted to relocate the two Val Samuelson's art pieces from City Hall to the Cathedral Center on February 28, 2016 for the Agnes Pelton Home Tour in an amount not to exceed $100 for the transportation of the pieces by Signature Sculptures, which is the same company that moves and installs all of the art pieces in the City. The Public Arts Commission is requesting that the City Council ratify this action.
DISCUSSION:
