Staff recommends the City Council approve a resolution in support of the California Fire Assistance Agreement (CFAA.)
Body
BACKGROUND:
The City of Cathedral City (City) Fire Department deploys trained firefighters under the CFAA to support state and federal agencies in the suppression of wild fires. The City and its' firefighters are reimbursed portal to portal for costs during the firefighter deployments.
DISCUSSION:
The California Office of Emergency Services, which administers the CFAA, has requested City Governing Bodies approve a resolution to indicate the City will compensate its' employees portal to portal while in the course of their employment and away from their official duty station, and assigned to an emergency incident, in support of an emergency incident or pre-positioned for emergency response.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Adoption of the resolution will not change reimbursements to the City or its' employees, as the portal to portal basis is currently being used by the City and is consistent with other municipal agencies practices.
