RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation
Staff recommends that Council re-schedule the Public Hearing to establish Underground Utility District 2017-01 from Wednesday June 14, 2017 to Monday June 26, 2017.

BACKGROUND:
On May 24, 2017, Council declared its intention to establish the formation of Underground Utility District 2017-01 (UUD 2017-1) and scheduled a Public Hearing at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers for June 14, 2017. On May 25, 2017, Staff requested the Desert Sun to publish the required Public Notice for the hearing. Due to the Memorial Day Holiday, the Desert Sun was unable to publish the Notice in a timely manner for the June 14, 2017 Public Hearing.
DISCUSSION:
The Desert Sun's earliest publication date for the Public Hearing was too late to hold the Public Hearing on June 14, 2017. Staff has provided the Desert Sun with the Public Notice and the publication dates will allow the hearing to be conducted at the June 26, 2017 City Council Special Meeting.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The delay in holding the public hearing will have no fiscal impact on the Underground Utility District. The Rule 20(A) Tariff will provide sufficient funds to pay the cost of undergrounding the utilities.
