BACKGROUND:
College of the Desert Alumni Association has operated a street fair on the main campus of College of the Desert in Palm Desert for more than 30 years called the "C.O.D. Street Fair." The Alumni Association would like to bring the Street Fair to Cathedral City on the 1st Wednesday of each month from 4 pm to 9 pm starting on Wednesday, December 2nd, 2015 through Wednesday, May 4, 2016.
DISCUSSION:
Entitled, "West Valley Wednesdays," the Alumni Association would operate its street fair on Avenida Lalo Guerrero, Town Square Park, and possibly the Festival Lawn. A Memorandum of Understanding (attached) will act as the cornerstone for the management of the fair as well as each parties' rights and responsibilities. The Alumni Association has already provided insurance naming the City as an additional insured and purchased health permits for their food/beverage vendors.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The City will incur limited costs as most of the operation of the street fair is handled by the Alumni Association. The City will be responsible trash, trash removal, and providing up to 15 booths with electricity. In exchange, the Alumni Festival will provide a $3 Special Event Fee per vendor per day as well 10% of the vendor rental booth fee.
