BACKGROUND:
The City Council met on January 27, 2018 in a strategic planning retreat to develop goals for the year, which were subsequently adopted by resolution on February 28, 2018. One of the goals developed was to conduct research on the San Francisco programs designed to open up banking opportunities to residents and evaluate their applicability in Cathedral City. Another goal developed was to evaluate the possibility and costs of a program to seed a college fund for public school kindergarteners.
DISCUSSION:
Jose Cisneros, the Treasurer of San Francisco, has been invited to give a presentation to the City Council on the banking programs that have been implemented in San Francisco and their Kindergarten-to-College program.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact with this item.
