Title

Panorama & Century Park Soft Surface Replacement

End

FROM:

Tami Scott, Administrative Services Director

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation

Staff recommends the City Council authorize replacement of the soft surface material located at both Panorama & Century Park in an amount not to exceed $43,692.

Body

BACKGROUND:

The remaining soft surface area at Panorama Park and the soft surface area at Century Park has exceeded its lifespan considerably and continues to deteriorate. Generally, the lifespan is about 7 years and the existing surface is around the 14-year mark and due to the condition, is time to be replaced.

DISCUSSION:

Staff has had discussion with several vendors relative to bids on both parks.  Due to the timing of the soft surface replacement at the Fountain of Life, which is scheduled to commence September 24th, 2018, staff was able to secure the best bids from Park Pet and Play, LLC.  Their ability to do all three parks at the same time creates an opportunity to reduce costs due to economies of scale related to labor and materials. At this time, staff is recommending moving forward with Park Pet and Play, LLC. in an amount not to exceed $43,692.  The renovation will include making the necessary repairs to the existing rubber surfacing, cut back all edges for a new even transition to concrete edge and prime all edges with binder for proper adhesion.  They will then install a new ½” PIP (Pour-in-Play) system over the existing rubber surfacing.  The work comes with a seven-year warranty.
