FROM:

Charles McClendon, City Manager

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation

Staff recommends the City Council review the travel policy and, if necessary, develop revisions.

Body

BACKGROUND:

Council currently operates under a travel policy, which was last revised in July 2012.  Mayor Henry requested a study session item to review the policy and, if necessary, develop revisions.

DISCUSSION:

The purpose of the travel policy is to establish official rules, regulations and procedures pertaining to the advance payment and/or reimbursement of travel and business expenses incurred by the Mayor, City Council, City Clerk, and City Treasurer during the course of their respective participation in or attendance at an official City related function.

It is recommended that Council review the policy and discuss any recommended revisions.  If revisions are needed the revised policy will be placed on a future agenda for approval.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Each Councilmember has a budget for training, travel, meals, conferences and mileage:

-Conferences, meetings and training                      $1,500

-Meals                                                                                                               300
