Staff recommends the City Council authorize a complete reroofing of the Fire Station Administration Building (FS410), adjacent Fire Station 412 (FS412) located at 32100 Desert Vista Rd and Fire Station 413 (FS413), located at 27610 Landau Blvd, for an amount not to exceed $78,981.

BACKGROUND:
The Fire Station Administration (FS410) and combined Fire Station(FS412), located at 32100 Desert Vista Rd, was built in 1989. Since that time, it has only had roof patching and repairs. In addition, Fire Station (FS413) built in 1992, located at 27610 Landau Blvd. has also experienced the same issues. Due to the condition and age of the roof and intermittent leaks that can no longer be addressed through repairs, the entire roof system on all the buildings need to be replaced.
DISCUSSION:
Due to the condition of the roofs, staff proceeded with a bid process for complete roof replacements and recommends accepting the most qualified and the lowest bid from Castro Roofing of Thousand Palms in an amount not to exceed $78,981 for all the buildings. The roofing system will be one (1) layer of 1/2" EPS insulation then a Carlisle 60 mil TPO (Thermoplastic PolyOlefin) heat welded roof system. In addition, there will be $6500 of air conditioning removal and refitting.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding was already made available and approved through the FY 17-18 & 18-19 biennial budget process via Facilities account numbers 100-143-8301-8820, 8822 & 8823.
