Staff recommends the City Council approve a resolution in support of AB2439.

BACKGROUND:
Assemblyman Eduardo Garcia has introduced AB2439, which designates the LGBT Veterans Memorial at Desert Memorial Park in Cathedral City as the official state LGBT Veterans memorial. This item was discussed by Council in study session on February 28, 2018 and Council directed staff to bring back a resolution for action.
DISCUSSION:
Council is in support of AB2439 as it would designate an existing LGBT Veterans Memorial in Cathedral City as the official state LGBT Veterans Memorial. This will bring recognition to the service of LGBT Veterans throughout California and bring recognition to Cathedral City as the site of the memorial.
