RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends the City Council accept the resignation of Karyn Barnes from the Parks and Community Events Commission effective March 14, 2018.
Body
BACKGROUND:
Karyn Barnes was appointed to serve on the Public Arts Commission on February 8, 2017, to fill an unexpired term continuing to June 30, 2019.
DISCUSSION:
On February 27, 2018, Karyn Barnes submitted her resignation from the Parks and Community Events Commission.
With the resignation of Ms. Barnes, the Parks and Community Events Commission will have one vacancy with a term continuing to June 30, 2019.
Staff recommends the City Council direct staff to do the following:
• Pursuant to Government Code 54974, post a Notice of Vacancy. No appointment can be made sooner than 10 days after the Notice of Vacancy has been posted.
• Post Vacancy on Social Media and City Website.
• Accept applications through March 29, 2018, conduct interviews on April 11, 2018, and make an appointment to fill the vacated seat.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact with this item.
