Recommendation

Staff recommends the City Council approve Special Use Permit #17-028 with conditions.

Body

BACKGROUND:

The Riverside County Child Care Consortium hosts the 9th Annual "Day of the Young Child" event that connects families with Early Childhood Education professionals.  The event celebrates children with family oriented activities on March 10, 2018 from 9 am to noon.  Set-up begins at 7:00 am and teardown at 12:30 pm.  The event consists of social services' booths, children bounce houses, and DJ music.

DISCUSSION:

The organization would like the application fee waived as in years past.  Reason being, this is a family-friendly event geared towards families-in-need and hosted by a county organization that has limited funds.  Staff recommends the fee waiver.  The organizers will provide insurance and the insurance must have specific coverage for bounce houses if they will be used.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is only a nominal expense to the City of setting up road closure barricades in front of City Hall.
