BACKGROUND:
CM Kaplan requested a study session discussion item on support for SB 705 as well as a local ordinance addressing polystyrene containers.
DISCUSSION:
Senator Ben Allen, 26th District, introduced SB 705 and has reached out to CM Kaplan asking for Cathedral City to support the bill, which would ban the use of polystyrene containers in California. He has also encouraged local jurisdictions to consider local ordinances banning the containers. A letter from Senator Allen is attached.
