TITLE:

Title

Resignation of Mitchell King from the Architectural Review Committee

FROM:

Tracey Martinez, CMC

Deputy City Clerk

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation

Staff recommends the City Council accept the resignation of Mitchell King from the Architectural Review Committee and direct staff to post a Notice of Vacancy pursuant to Government Code Section 54974.

Body

BACKGROUND:

Mitchell King was appointed to the Architectural Review Committee in June 2017 to serve a three year term.

DISCUSSION:

Staff has received notification from Mitchell King that his job has temporary relocated him to Hawaii for six months to a year effective immediately.  This relocation will prohibit him from attending the ARC Meetings here in Cathedral City.  Staff did provide Mr. King with the option of participating via telephone, however, given the requirements he has chosen to resign at this time.  Staff has encouraged Mr. King to apply once again when he returns from his temporary relocation.

With the resignation of Mr. King, the Architectural Review Committee will have one vacancy with a term continuing to June 30, 2020.

Staff will post the Notice of Vacancy pursuant to Government 54974 and accept applications.  No appointment can be made sooner than 10 days after the Notice of Vacancy has been posted. Staff will bring back an item on the January 10, 2018 City Council Agenda to fill the unexpired term of Mr. Mitchell.
