BACKGROUND:
CM Carnevale is the Cathedral City representative on the CVAG Homelessness Committee. The committee is currently discussing options to address homelessness in the region, particularly in light of the closure of Roy's Desert Resource Center.
DISCUSSION:
The CVAG Committee will be considering a proposal from Path of Life Ministries to provide regional services for the homeless. CM Carnevale requested a Council discussion on the topic and he is seeking input from the full Council. The CVAG Homelessness Committee is expected to make a recommendation at their next meeting, which will then go before the CVAG Executive Committee.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The budget for FY 17-18 includes a set aside for regional homelessness services of $51,500 in CDBG funds. No allocations of the funds have been identified to date.
