RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation
Staff recommends the City Council appoint Council Member Shelley Kaplan to serve as a Trustee on the District Board of Trustees for the Coachella Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District for a three-year term continuing through December 31, 2019.

BACKGROUND:
Shelley Kaplan was appointed by the City Council to serve as a Trustee on the District Board of Trustees for the Coachella Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District on March 26, 2014, to fill an unexpired term on the Board.
DISCUSSION:
Staff received a letter from the Clerk of the Board indicating that Trustee Shelley Kaplan's term will be expiring on December 31, 2016. Council Member Kaplan has indicated that he is interested in serving an additional term if it is the desire of the City Council. It has been determined that there is no conflict with him serving on the Coachella Valley Mosquito and Vector Control Board of Trustees. If it is the desire of the City Council to re-appoint Council Member Kaplan it will be for a three-year term that will expire on December 31, 2019.
