Body
BACKGROUND:
Since Cathedral City had to eliminate all Parks and Recreation programming in 2003 due to budget reductions, recreation services have been provided through partnerships with non-profits such as the Boys and Girls Club, and other organizations such as the Cathedral City Dance Program. Included in the City Council's adopted goals statements for both 2014 and 2015 was a statement calling for investigating possible annexation into the Desert Recreation District. Staff has met on several occasions with staff from the district to discuss services provided by the district and the steps that would be required if Cathedral City were to annex into the district.
DISCUSSION:
Kevin Kalman, General Manager of the Desert Recreation District, will be present to provide Council with an update on services provided by the district and to discuss future steps necessary for the City to consider annexation into the district.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no immediate cost to consider annexation into the district.
ATTACHMENTS:
None.
