Body

BACKGROUND:

ReCreation Management of Rancho Mirage has applied for a special use permit to hold a large, private party for their client, a major international firm, on Friday, April 15 starting at 10 pm to Saturday, April 16 at 4 am.  The location of the private party would take place at the former Sam's Club located at 35780 Date Palm Drive.

DISCUSSION:

The proposed Private Party will host its VIPs, friends of the house, influencers and top clients during an evening musical experience.  The event is by invitation only and not public facing.  The party will consist of DJs, musical performers, stage, lounge décor, food truck and beverages for guests.  An expected attendance will range between 1,000 and 1,500.

ReCreation Management handles all aspects of the event including 30 security officers, at least 1 Cathedral City Police Officer, 1 onsite paramedic van, hiring of Tops and Barricades for traffic control, signage to and at the event, restrooms, trash removal and complete clean-up.

The main issue of the event will be noise.  ReCreation Management has assured staff that they will take all available steps to mitigate the sound of music escaping the party zone and will abide by all noise ordinances.  They have hired an acoustical director to review the set-up and arrange the sound system to provide enjoyment for the guests without agitating the surrounding neighborhoods.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no significant impact to the City.  ReCreation Management is prepared to pay all associated fees and provide adequate insurance to protect the City.
