BACKGROUND:
The Council has expressed interest in having electric vehicle charging stations available at the Civic Center.
DISCUSSION:
The City has looked for ways to offer Electric Vehicle Charging stations in the Civic Center. Staff has worked with Tesla and Tesla has now provided a proposal to partner with the City to install (2) Tesla Charging Stations and (2) Universal Charging stations. These would be installed on the western most wall of the parking structure near and just north of the electrical room. The units would be directly shipped to the City and Tesla would pay the electrical contractor directly for the subsidy of $2000 per unit. The City would be responsible for the difference of approximately $2500.
In Summary:
• Tesla will supply 2 Tesla and 2 Universal Charging Stations at no cost to the City.
• The City will have installed the charging stations at the western wall, north of the elevators near the electrical room in the parking structure.
• Tesla will contribute up to $2000 per charging station installation.
• Total cost of installation is approximately $10,500.
• City net cost of installation is $2500.
• Warranty on the Tesla Charging Stations is 4 years
• Warranty on the Universal Charging Stations is 3 years
•Average charging time 3-4 hours
• Charging will be free to the public.
