Body

BACKGROUND:
On July 22, 2015, Council approved Resolution 2015-42 authorizing changes to the scopes of work for the Bicycle Transportation Grants the City has from Caltrans. The scope changes were subsequently submitted to Caltrans and approval was granted on August 31, 2015.

DISCUSSION:
The scope changes approved by Caltrans included using the funds remaining in the 08/09 BTA Grant for design and environmental studies. Following Caltrans approval of the scope changes, staff discussed with CVAG the potential to use the CVAG consultants for the CVLink project to prepare the design and environmental documents for this section of the Whitewater Bike Trail. The recommended Professional Services Agreements are with the CVAG consultants. Using these consultants will assure that the environmental documents and the final design documents will not only cover Cathedral City's Whitewater Bike Trail project, but will also be compatible with the proposed CVLink project.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The current five-year CIP project list includes $195,676 for the Phase 1 Bike Trail Project. The BTA Grant scope changes approved by Caltrans identified these funds to be used for the design and environmental studies required for the Whitewater Bike Trail. There are sufficient funds available to pay the consultant fees.
