BACKGROUND:
Mayor Pro Tem Greg Pettis and Captain Charles Robinson attended the CVAG Public Safety meeting in Palm Desert on January 12th, 2015, where District Attorney Michael Hestrin presented a brief overview of the new Proposition 47 changes. During the Special City Council meeting held on January 12th, 2015, Mayor Pro Tem Pettis requested that Captain Robinson present an update to the City Council on Proposition 47.
DISCUSSION:
The purpose of this presentation is to provide City Council with a summary of changes in the law as a result of the passage of Proposition 47, and the practical effects on the local law enforcement community.
