Staff recommends that the City Council interview Anna Rodriguez for possible appointment to fill an unexpired term on the Planning Commission.

BACKGROUND:
On September 25, 2014 the City Council appointed John Aguilar to fill the vacated seat of former Council Member Chuck Vasquez. At the time, Mr. Aguilar was a member of the Planning Commission and with his appointment to the City Council had to resign as a Planning Commissioner upon him being sworn-in to office.
Pursuant to California Government Code Section 54974, a Notice of an unscheduled vacancy on the Planning Commission was posted allowing the opportunity for applications to be submitted to fill this vacancy.
This term is scheduled to expire on June 30, 2015.
DISCUSSION:
An application for the Planning Commission was received in the City Clerk's Department on November 12, 2014, from Anna Rodriguez. An interview with Ms. Rodriguez has been scheduled for December 10, 2014 during Study Session. An item has also been placed on the Regular Meeting Agenda for consideration of an appointment, in the event that it is the desire of the Council to appoint Anna Rodriguez to fill the unexpired term.
